  • Hitch - The durable hitch is built to handle the heavy loads the M2080 and M2090 box spreader models are capable of hauling. The hitch is part of the main spreader frame extending from underneath the box to where it attaches to the tractor. The hitch clevis is adjustable vertically to accommodate a tractor drawbar height between 15 and 22 inches above the ground. This feature ensures the spreader will be level when attached to the tractor.
  • PTO Driveline - The PTO shaft is easy to attach to the tractor thanks to 60 degrees of free rotation. The strong Category IV PTO shaft provides superior durability and provides power to the beaters. A constant velocity (CV) joint supplies power through the PTO shaft for more efficient and quieter operation and less wear on the universal joints. Sharp turns are no problem as the CV joint is rated to operate at angles up to 80 degrees. The driveline is protected by a shear bolt on the PTO shaft. A 1000 rpm (21-spline, 1-3/8 in.) PTO driveline is standard equipment with a 540 rpm PTO driveline available as an option on the M2080 only.
  • Hydraulic Hookup - Both M2080 and M2090 box spreader models require two rear remote valves on the tractor. One remote opens and closes the rear endgate. The second remote provides flow to a hydraulic motor to power the double apron chains. The apron speed is adjusted using the cab-mounted electronic control. This means that the speeds of the apron chains and beaters are independently adjustable for more efficient operation. Hydraulic hoses and electrical wires are secured by a hose storage stand mounted on the hitch.
  • Spreader Box - The box consists of a solid poly floor and poly bonded plywood sides, front and endgate. These materials are corrosion resistant for long life. Considerably less torque is needed to move a heavy load to the back of the spreader because of the smooth floor and sides. The side flares and front splash guard ensure nothing is lost in transport. They are standard equipment on both the M2080 and M2090 models and are constructed of 10 gauge G210 culvert grade galvanized steel.
  • Apron Chains - Both box spreader models use a double apron system with T-Bar chain. These chains are heavy and durable to stand up to load after load of dense, heavy and packed material. Instead of using idler sprockets for the apron chains at the front of the spreader, New Holland uses special steel alloy idler slides. This eliminates the frustration of having the chain jump off the idler pulley. Apron chain tension adjustment is done at the front of the spreader box. Each apron chain is adjusted independently. Simply loosen the two jam nuts, then tighten or loosen the long bolt for easy adjustment. The apron speed is adjusted by using the cab-mounted electronic control.
  • Beaters - Two beaters are standard equipment on both the M2080 and M2090 model box spreaders. The two beater design ensures that large pieces are broken up for more even spreading. The beaters have a symmetrical, rooster-comb design which provides knife -like cutting/shredding action and a wide, fine spreading pattern. The upper beater includes 9 paddles constructed of ¼ inch steel. The lower beater has 9 paddles which are constructed of ½ inch steel. For easy, cost effective serviceability these heavy duty beater paddles are replaceable. Simply unbolt the worn paddles and install the new ones.
  • Axles and Tires - The M2080 and M2090 box spreader models are designed to haul large, heavy loads of manure and remain trouble free for years to come. Both models use tandem walking beam axles to provide a smoother ride. Durability is supplied by the large axle pivots (4 in. on M2080 and 4.5 in. on M2090). Large 425 x 22.5 used truck tires with 22.5 in. rims provide flotation. The heavy sidewalls withstand sharp turns with heavy loads
  • Operation - Before operating the box spreader, first make sure that the tractor is properly sized for the spreader and that the box spreader is correctly attached to the tractor. To operate the spreader, slowly engage the tractor PTO to start the beaters. Raise the hydraulic endgate by using the tractor hydraulics. Adjust the apron speed by using the cab-mounted electronic control to zero. Engage the tractor hydraulics to run the apron. Adjust the apron to the desired speed. When the spreader is almost empty the bed can be cleaned out by disengaging the tractor PTO to stop the beaters and increasing the apron speed. When the spreader is completely empty, disengage the hydraulics to stop the apron then lower the end gate.
